We, Robert and Esther, have been on an adventure together since 1997. Starting from Apeldoorn, we found our way to Giethoorn via Australia, Lelystad and the Belgian Ardennes, finally settling in Giethoorn in 2012. We are living our dream in this beautiful town, where the inspiration for our business is to share our passion with you – our passion for delicious food and authentic local produce.

History

  • ± 1905 – Construction of the farmhouse at Binnenpad 141.
  • 1905 – 2012 The property serves various purposes, ranging from a farm to a café to a grocery
    to a canteen/eatery and is significant enough to be listed in the National Monument Register in 1973.
  • 2012 – Eetcafé De Sloothoake is rented by the current owners, Robert and Esther, and the name is changed to Café-Restaurant De Sloothaak.
  • 2017 – Esther and Robert buy Restaurant De Sloothaak.

  • 2022 – The name is changed to Restaurant 141.
